Digestive Problem

Indigestion due to low stomach acid and constant overeating makes it difficult for your gut to digest food, resulting in food staying longer in the stomach and causing fermentation. The body perceives this fermentation as toxic and attempts to expel it through the mouth, which leads to feelings of nausea. Irritation of the mucosal lining can also cause nausea.

The test to determine if you have low stomach acid is the Gastrotest. The treatment is Betaine HCl, as long as you have an intact gastrointestinal lining.

Pancreatic Problem

If you feel nauseated about one hour after eating, this is commonly related to a lack of pancreatic secretions. Why after one hour? Food empties from the stomach in approximately one hour and moves into the small intestine, where pancreatic enzymes are released to further digest it. If you lack pancreatic enzymes, the food will ferment and be sensed by the body as a toxin, making you feel nauseated as the body attempts to expel it.

Lab tests will show increased urinary sediment levels. Pancreatic enzyme supplements can help manage this problem.

Bile Problem

If it persists for a week or longer, this can be caused by bile inhibition due to liver damage. When bile flow is blocked, toxins can accumulate in the body, resulting in nausea.

Tests include a CBC and liver enzyme tests such as SGOT, SGPT, and GGT. Beet juice, taurine, vitamin C can help manage this problem.

In short, toxin buildup can cause nausea. You feel like nauseous rather than having diarrhea because the closest opening in this situation is the mouth to eliminate these toxins. Therefore, the problem is most likely in the stomach, pancreas, or liver, which are located in the upper part of the abdomen.

Diarrhea is a problem of the colon, which is located in the lower part of the abdomen. Nausea signifies a problem in the upper part of the abdomen.
